Preliminary estimates from the National Travel Survey (NTS) for the second quarter of 2020 are now available.
The NTS collects information about the domestic and international travel of Canadian residents, including the volume and characteristics of travellers and their travel spending.
Data tables of Canadian residents travelling within Canada and abroad are available upon request.
Note to readers
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, collection of the National Travel Survey was suspended from March until June 2020. As a result, preliminary estimates for the second quarter of 2020 were produced using alternative methods and sources. In the absence of survey data from travellers, estimates for this period were derived using a combination of survey data from the same period in 2019 and 2021 as well as data from the Canadian Tourism Activity Tracker for 2020 and 2021.
Due to data quality considerations, some variables or levels of detail were not produced. Users are cautioned to read the description of data sources, methods, and limitations provided in the National Travel Survey webpage.
