This is a map of Canada by province and territory showing the month-to-month percentage changes for investment in residential building construction. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.
Investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 1.6% compared with August 2021. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 16.7%, Prince Edward Island was down 10.7%, Nova Scotia was up 10.9%, New Brunswick was down 10.4%, Quebec was down 3.3%, Ontario was down 0.5%, Manitoba was down 3.5%, Saskatchewan was up 9.2%, Alberta was down 3.8%, British Columbia was down 2.1%, Yukon was down 20.0%, Northwest Territories was down 17.6%, Nunavut was up 224.1%.

Total investment for Canada was $12,716.7 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $32.1 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $52.9 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $316.0 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $162.5 million, total investment for Quebec was $2,707.0 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,506.7 million, total investment for Manitoba was $396.7 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $185.5 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,225.8 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,071.5 million, total investment for Yukon was $19.6 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $25.2 million, total investment for Nunavut was $15.2 million.

Single homes: Market share was 45.1%, total investment totalled $3,255.2 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 33.3% or $813.6 million.
Semi-detached homes: Market share was 3.2%, total investment totalled $233.3 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 9.7% or $25.2 million.
Row homes: Market share was 9.8%, total investment totalled $707.0 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 27.5% or $152.7 million.
Condos and rental apartments: Market share was 41.9%, total investment totalled $3,027.5 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 13.7% or $364.2 million.
Note: Single homes value excludes cottages and mobile homes.
