New data on "smoking stages of change and tobacco alternatives and vaping" from the rapid response component of the Canadian Community Health Survey – Annual Component are now available.
Note to readers
The data were collected from respondents aged 12 and older from all provinces between January and April 2021.
The rapid response on smoking stages of change and tobacco alternatives and vaping asked respondents who were current cigarette smokers about their intentions to quit and recent attempts to quit smoking. An additional series of questions was asked of all respondents to assess the use of alternative tobacco products, such as cigars, cigarellos or pipes, and included a series of questions on vaping or "e-cigarette" devices.
The data are now available in the research data centres.
The addition of these questions to the Canadian Community Health Survey was sponsored by Health Canada.
