Investment in residential construction for Canada increased 3.9% compared with December 2020. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 2.7%, Prince Edward Island was up 2.9%, Nova Scotia was up 0.2%, New Brunswick was up 4.8%, Quebec was up 2.3%, Ontario was up 3.6%, Manitoba was down 1.1%, Saskatchewan was up 21.2%, Alberta was up 6.7%, British Columbia was up 4.2%, Yukon was up 0.1%, the Northwest Territories was up 48.9%, and total investment for Nunavut was too unreliable to be published.

Total investment for Canada was $11,588.4 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $121.7 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $57.6 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $309.4 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $175.9 million, total investment for Quebec was $2,423.9 million, total investment for Ontario was $4,665.3 million, total investment for Manitoba was $374.9 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $230.7 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,415.5 million, total investment for British Columbia was $1,789.9 million, total investment for Yukon was $15.6 million, total investment for the Northwest Territories was $7.0 million, and total investment for Nunavut was too unreliable to be published.

Single homes: Market share was 37.0%, and total investment totalled $2,093.7 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 25.1%, or $420.0 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 5.2%, and total investment totalled $295.3 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 84.7%, or $135.4 million.

Row homes: Market share was 10.2%, and total investment totalled $576.1 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 21.5%, or $101.8 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 47.6%, and total investment totalled $2,698.2 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 16.4%, or $379.7 million.
