The product Survey of Household Spending Modelled Annual Statistics, 2010 to 2017, is now available.
Since the 2010 Survey of Household Spending (SHS) redesign, official estimates of the annual proportion of households reporting an expenditure and the average annual expenditure per reporting household have not been available.
To help fill this data gap, Statistics Canada developed a statistical model to produce approximations of these two annual statistics. The modelled statistics are available in tables covering over 150 expenditure categories at the national level (10 provinces only) for reference years 2010 to 2017. The tables are included in a user guide that describes the methodology and assumptions behind the statistical model.
As the SHS modelled annual statistics are an analytical product and not derived directly from the SHS survey, they should be interpreted with caution.
