Estimates of the number of census families for Canada, the provinces and territories, as of July 1, 2020, are now available. These estimates are broken down by family structure (couple or lone-parent). Revised estimates as of July 1, for the years 2017 to 2019, are also available.
Note to readers
The estimates released today are based on 2016 Census population counts adjusted for census net undercoverage and incompletely enumerated Indian reserves, to which are added the population growth estimates for the period from May 10, 2016, to the date of the estimate.
