This is a map of Canada by province and territory showing the month-to-month percentage changes for investment in new housing construction. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.

Investment in residential construction for Canada increased 12.2% compared to May 2020. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 37.0%, Prince Edward Island was up 24.5%, Nova Scotia was up 5.7%, New Brunswick was up 4.5%, Quebec was up 28.2%, Ontario was up 13.5%, Manitoba was up 0.6%, Saskatchewan was down 1.9%, Alberta was up 3.4%, British Columbia was up 3.6%, Yukon was up 66.8%, Northwest Territories was down 12.7%, Nunavut was down 26.2%.

Total investment for Canada was $9,389.1 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $64.0 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $49.6 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $220.9 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $126.0 million, total investment for Quebec was $1,925.9 million, total investment for Ontario was $3,846.6 million, total investment for Manitoba was $256.2 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $160.2 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,097.9 million, total investment for British Columbia was $1,610.0 million, total investment for Yukon was $22.3 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $5.4 million, total investment for Nunavut was $4.0 million.

Single homes: Market share was 39.3%, total investment totalled $1,869.2 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 8.2% or $166.6 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 4.1%, total investment totalled $196.4 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 10.6% or $18.8 million.

Row homes: Market share was 9.3%, total investment totalled $442.5 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 22.0% or $124.5 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 47.2%, total investment totalled $2,244.6 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 8.1% or $167.3 million.
