The Full-time University and College Academic Staff System (FT-UCASS) provides Canadians with a detailed portrait of full-time academic staff in Canadian universities, including gender, year of birth, principal subject taught, academic rank, salary and administrative stipends, administrative responsibilities, previous employment, and province or country of degrees earned.
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing the first group of data on university academic teaching staff from the FT-UCASS for the 2019/2020 academic year. It includes 90 of the 111 universities that have reported to date, covering universities across Canada, including all institutions in Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and at least 80% of institutions in the remaining provinces. A final release for the 2019/2020 academic year, with data for all universities, will be available this winter.
Of the reporting institutions, 57 had more than 100 academic teaching staff and selected data from these respondents, at the institution level, are available in data table 37-10-0108-01.
