Study: The distribution of temporary foreign workers across industries in Canada
Possible delays in the inflow of new temporary foreign workers could affect essential services, such as agriculture and food production, during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study shows that, while they account for 3% of total employment in Canada, temporary foreign workers are over-represented in industries such as crop production (27%), private household services (10%) and gasoline stations (8%). In addition, 10% of firms in Canada employ at least one temporary foreign worker.
