Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index, third quarter 2019
The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index decreased 0.2% in the third quarter, following a 0.6% rise in the second quarter.
Rental prices for construction, transportation, mining, and forestry machinery and equipment were down 0.2%, while rental prices for office and other commercial and industrial machinery and equipment were unchanged.
The index declined 0.1% in the third quarter compared with the same quarter in 2018.
The decrease was the result of lower rental prices for the construction, transportation, mining, and forestry machinery and equipment rental and leasing industry (-0.3%). Prices for the office and other commercial and industrial machinery and equipment rental and leasing industry rose 0.7%, moderating the annual decline.

The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index (CIMERLSPI) measures price changes of rental and leasing activities for the commercial and industrial machinery and equipment industry.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data for the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
The CIMERLSPI combines North American Industry Classification System codes 53242 and 53249.
