A new edition of the publication Health Indicators (82-221-X) is now available. Several estimates at the health region level have been updated, including 2017 estimates on premature and potentially avoidable mortality and on potential years of life lost. All of these estimates are now based on the 2018 health region boundaries. Data on health-adjusted life expectancy by province and territory have also been updated for the reference period from 2015 to 2017.
The Health Indicators publication includes over 80 indicators that measure the health of the Canadian population and the effectiveness of the health care system. Designed to provide comparable information at the health region and provincial/territorial levels, these data are produced from a wide range of the most recently available sources.
Note to readers
Health regions are defined by the provinces and territories, and represent administrative areas or regions of interest to health authorities.
