For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, first quarter 2019
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index decreased 0.3% in the first quarter, following a 1.0% gain in the fourth quarter of 2018. This was the first decrease since the second quarter of 2016.
The general freight trucking component rose 0.1%, while the specialized freight component declined 1.0%.
The index rose 5.5% in the first quarter compared with the same quarter of 2018. Both the general freight (+6.6%) and the specialized freight (+3.2%) trucking components increased.

The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
