The product "2016 Census Public Use Microdata File (PUMF), Hierarchical File" is now available.
The Hierarchical File represents a 1% sample of the Canadian population and provides access to 140,705 household records (representing 343,330 persons) which have been anonymized. It is a comprehensive social, demographic and economic database about Canada and its people and includes a wealth of information on population characteristics. The file enables the study of individuals in relation to their census families, economic families, households and dwellings.
The geographic identifiers in the file have been limited to provinces and territories as well as the five largest census metropolitan areas (Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary) to ensure the anonymity of respondents.
