Commercial Rents Services Price Index, fourth quarter 2017

The Commercial Rents Services Price Index rose 0.5% in the fourth quarter, following a 0.8% increase the previous quarter. The gain in the fourth quarter was mainly attributable to higher average rents for retail buildings.

Year-over-year change

The index was up 0.9% in the fourth quarter compared with the same quarter in 2016.

The Commercial Rents Services Price Index (CRSPI) is a monthly index, which is disseminated on a quarterly basis. Prices collected are average rents measured in price per square foot for a sample of commercial buildings.

With each release, data for the previous quarter may be revised. The series is also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data for the following reference year.

The CRSPI is not seasonally adjusted and is available at the Canada level only.
