For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, fourth quarter 2017

The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index rose 2.9% in the fourth quarter, following a 0.3% increase in the third quarter. This was the sixth consecutive quarterly gain.

Both the general freight trucking (+3.4%) and the specialized freight trucking (+1.9%) components increased.

Year-over-year change

The index was up 5.7% in the fourth quarter compared with the same quarter of 2016. Both the general freight trucking (+6.7%) and the specialized freight trucking (+3.6%) components rose.
