Note to readers
The Annual Survey on End-Use of Refined Petroleum Products collects data on the activities of Canadian refineries that produce refined petroleum products (North American Industry Classification System [NAICS] 324000).
The survey collects sales data for 10 fuel groups: motor gasoline, diesel fuel oil, light fuel oil (heating oil), heavy fuel oil, aviation gasoline, aviation turbo fuel (kerosene), aviation turbo fuel (naphtha type), stove oil, asphalt, lubricating oils and greases.
The Annual Survey on End-Use of Refined Petroleum Products is administered as part of Statistics Canada's Integrated Business Statistics Program (IBSP). Detailed information about the IBSP is available from the Behind the data module of our website.
Starting with the 2014 reference year, the Annual Survey on End-Use of Refined Petroleum Products sample includes refineries only. The selected sample of secondary distributors of refined petroleum products previously surveyed (NAICS subsector 412) is no longer included.
Data from the Annual Survey on End-Use of Refined Petroleum Products and the Annual Survey of Secondary Distributors of Refined Petroleum Products are combined and integrated into Statistics Canada's Annual Report on Energy Supply and Demand and CANSIM table 128-0017.
Data for 2015 have been revised.
Data are subject to revisions.
