Estimates of the number of census families for Canada, the provinces and territories, as of July 1, 2017, are now available. These estimates are broken down by family structure (couple or lone-parent). Revised estimates as of July 1, for the years 2013 to 2016, are also available.
Note to readers
Estimates released today are based on 2011 Census counts adjusted for census net undercoverage and incompletely enumerated Indian reserves.
These estimates are not to be confused with the counts of census families by family structure from the 2016 Census that were released on August 2, 2017. Estimates of the number of census families for Canada, the provinces and the territories based on the 2016 Census counts and adjusted for census net undercoverage will be available in March 2019.
