Dynamic microsimulation models are tools that allow users to explore policy-oriented "what-if" scenarios. The Analytical Studies: Methods and References paper The DYSEM Microsimulation Modelling Platform provides an introduction to a new microsimulation tool developed by Statistics Canada.
The DYSEM Microsimulation Modelling Platform provides a starting point from which users can develop custom dynamic microsimulation models or applications. DYSEM provides a flexible and user-friendly demographic and socioeconomic "model core" that simulates and projects births, immigration, emigration, interprovincial migration, education and mortality for the Canadian population from July 1, 2011, onward.
This report provides an introduction to the tool, its potential uses, and the methods and data used in its development.
