Travel between Canada and other countries, March 2016

United States residents made 2.1 million trips to Canada in March, up 1.7% from February.

Travel to Canada by residents of overseas countries fell 2.2% in March to 469,000 trips.

Canadian residents made 3.3 million trips to the United States in March, up 0.4% compared with February.

Travel by Canadian residents to overseas countries increased to 971,000 trips in March, up 0.9% from February.

Overseas countries refer to countries other than the United States.

A Canadian resident traveller is a Canadian resident who has travelled outside of Canada for a period of less than 12 months.

A non-resident traveller is a resident of a country other than Canada who is travelling to Canada for a period of less than 12 months.
