The February 2016 online issue of Health Reports, released today, contains two articles: "Exposure to industrial air pollutant emissions and lung function in children: Canadian Health Measures Survey, 2007 to 2011" and "Cadmium levels and sources of exposure among Canadian adults."
The article "Exposure to industrial air pollutant emissions and lung function in children: Canadian Health Measures Survey, 2007 to 2011" examines the relationship between long-term exposure to industrial air emissions of nitrogen oxides and fine particulate matter, and lung function in a nationally representative sample of Canadian children and youth aged 6 to 18. The data are from the Canadian Health Measures Survey and the National Pollutant Release Inventory.
Cadmium is a heavy metal found naturally in the environment that has been associated with negative health outcomes. The article "Cadmium levels and sources of exposure among Canadian adults" uses data from cycles 1 (2007 to 2009) and 2 (2009 to 2011) of the Canadian Health Measures Survey to examine blood and urinary cadmium levels among Canadians aged 20 to 79, and associations with sources of exposure.
