Sales of maple products

$358.0 million

(annual change)

Sales of Canadian maple products declined for a second consecutive year, down 5.8% from 2014 to $358.0 million in 2015.

Quebec remained the most important producer, accounting for over 80% of sales nationally. The average price of maple products in the province was $37.74 per gallon in 2015.

Maple production declined 6.1% from 2014 to 8.9 million gallons in 2015. While Quebec continued to account for over 90% of production, the province posted a 5.8% decline from 2014 to 8.1 million gallons, partly as a result of lower yields and fewer taps.

Poor weather conditions in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia resulted in lower maple production for these provinces. In New Brunswick, maple production declined 14.3% from 2014 to 430,000 gallons, while in Nova Scotia, production fell almost 40% to 18,000 gallons in 2015.

Ontario production was relatively unchanged at 369,000 gallons.
