Average operating revenues per farm in Canada amounted to $415,380 in 2014, up 7.0% from 2013, according to taxation records.
Overall, 9 of the 11 major farm types posted higher average operating revenues. Hog farms had the largest increase (+24.6%), followed by beef cattle farms (+20.7%) and greenhouse, nursery and floriculture operations (+18.7%).
Average operating expenses rose 7.9% to $343,870, with the largest increases coming from greenhouse, nursery and floriculture operations (+18.3%), beef cattle farms (+17.0%) and hog farms (+16.9%).
