Relative to March, the Industrial Product Price Index was unchanged in April. Increases in chemical products (+1.7%) and petroleum and coal products (+0.4%) were offset by a decline in primary metal products (-2.1%). The Raw Materials Price Index fell 2.0%, largely because of mineral fuels.
Canada's international travel deficit with the world declined by $85 million to $4.0 billion during the first quarter. This was a result of a decrease in payments by Canadian travellers to the United States and an increase in receipts from overseas residents.
