Canadian economic accounts, first quarter and March 2010

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 1.5% in the first quarter of 2010, after growing 1.2% in the fourth quarter of 2009. Final domestic demand advanced 1.1% as spending on housing as well as consumer goods and services continued to grow. Real GDP increased 0.6% in March, a seventh consecutive monthly advance. Additional data tables are available in the Canadian Economic Accounts Quarterly Review.

Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, April 2010

The Industrial Product Price Index increased 0.3% in April, mainly as a result of higher prices for primary metal products. The Raw Materials Price Index rose 1.7%, largely led by higher prices for mineral fuels, particularly crude oil.
