The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index advanced 1.7% in the second quarter, following a 0.3% decline in the first quarter.
Both the general freight (+1.8%) and the specialized freight (+1.7%) trucking components increased.
Year-over-year change
The index rose 4.0% in the second quarter compared with the same quarter in 2018. Both the general freight (+5.0%) and the specialized freight (+2.1%) trucking components showed gains.

Note to readers
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
