The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index was up 3.2% in the second quarter, following a 3.4% increase in the first quarter. This was the eighth consecutive quarterly gain.
Both the general freight (+3.5%) and the specialized freight (+2.8%) trucking components increased.
Year-over-year change
The index rose 10.1% in the second quarter compared with the same quarter of 2017. Both the general freight (+11.0%) and the specialized freight (+8.0%) trucking components rose.

The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
