Measured Obesity, no. 1 - ARCHIVED

Articles and reports: 82-620-M2005001

Description:

This issue presents two articles focusing on the prevalence of obesity in adults and children using measured height and weight data collected in Cycle 2.2 of the Canadian Community Health Survey - Nutrition. The articles look at the differences between obesity rates calculated using measured versus self-reported estimates of a respondent's height and weight. The articles also look at the change in measured obesity rates through time and how they compare with changes estimated using self-reported data. Comparisons are made for a broad range of demographic and socio-economic characteristics and links between obesity rates and various health conditions are also explored.
